Medical Description

Calcium channel blocker used in the treatment of chronic hypertension, angina pectoris and Raynaud’s disease.

Indication & Usage

-Chronic hypertension: Oral: Initial: 2.5 to 5 mg once daily; evaluate response after ~2 to 4 weeks and titrate dose, as needed, up to a maximum of 10 mg once daily; if additional blood pressure control is needed, consider combination therapy. -Angina pectoris: In case of chronic stable angina: Oral: 5 to 10 mg once daily. While in case of vasospastic angina: Oral: 5 to 10 mg once daily. -Raynaud’s disease: Oral: 5 mg once daily; if needed, increase dose gradually based on patient response and tolerability, usually once every 4 weeks and monitor blood pressure closely with each dose increase; maximum dose: 20 mg/day. -Pediatric dosing: -Hypertension: Children <6 years: Limited data available: Oral: Initial: 0.1 mg/kg/dose once daily; titrate based on clinical response; maximum daily dose: 0.6 mg/kg/day or 5 mg/day. While in case of children ≥6 years and adolescents: Oral: Initial: 2.5 mg once daily; titrate based on clinical response; maximum daily dose: 10 mg/day. -Raynaud’s disease: Very limited data available: Children ≥6 years and Adolescents: Oral: Usual dosage range: 2.5 to 10 mg once daily.
